EVOLVE CHAMPIONS: Youth-led Volunteering (Central London, London)
Area: Old Street
PHONE: 02075498817

We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and confident young people who want to be part of our youth-led volunteering team, eVolve.

eVolve is made up of young people (aged 16 to 25) who are involved in the development of the national youth volunteering programme in Central London. eVolve are recruiting for committed and enthusiastic members who meet up for 4 hours a month over pizza! We have 15 positions available, so please read on…

What do eVolve do? There are many positions in eVolve available to you through the recruitment process, where you will be promoting youth volunteering through a variety of exciting and upcoming projects which include a Film Project and campaigning for important issues relating to Youth Volunteering. We will also involve you in the organisation of our big and final Celebration Event in Spring 2011. So, there is never a shortage of things to do.

Joining eVolve is an excellent opportunity for you to get new experiences, gain work-based skills and meet other young people.

Why get involved? It’ll look great on your CV as you can easily get accredited by building-up your volunteering hours in order to achieve a vAward, and it will all be fun in the process! You’ll even get training! We have got a Residential Weekend, planned for the autumn, which will include teambuilding and AQA-accredited Youth Leadership skills training, so you’ll all get to know each other in a fun atmosphere… and it’s all completely free

We will require your commitment and attendance at the eVolve meetings, as well as playing an active role in the youth-led projects. We need your passions, your ideas and your skills to really develop the projects eVolve get engaged with.

I am sure both yourself and the current members of eVolve are planning to enjoy the sunshine, so if you are interested in applying, be ready to start after the summer-break, with a fresh start in September. Your commitment will then need to be until March, so this will require your six month involvement.

eVolve meet twice a month at the London Youth office (between Old Street tube station and Hoxton Square) to discuss and plan activities to promote youth volunteering to other young people and organisations.

We would really like you to be a part of it, and so the following roles are available:

CHAIRPERSON* (1 Position Available) You will be required to create and distribute meeting agendas, and as well as facilitating the meetings themselves. For this, you will need good communication skills and natural leadership abilities, as your role will involve the delegation of tasks to the rest of eVolve. For your support, you will be led by the Youth Volunteer Advisor.

ADMINISTRATOR (1 Position Available) As the eVolve administrator, you will be required to take, type-up and distribute each meeting’s notes. There will also be other ad-hoc duties that require administrative and IT skills. With this role, you will work closely with the Chairperson, who will be expected to take a committed role within youth-led volunteering.

DIGITAL MEDIA OFFICER (1 Position Available) This role will require someone with good IT skills as you will regularly be updating the eVolve website and our social media such as Facebook, with eVolve’s project photos, videos and news. We will also require someone who is responsible and accurate, as the information will be available to external people. You will work closely with the eVolve Press Officer. Regular access to the internet will be required.

PRESS OFFICER (1 Position Available) As a Press Officer, you will be expected to document eVolve’s projects through photos, videos and regular write-ups. You will work closely with the Digital Media Officer who will be able to broadcast and promote your work for the benefit of promoting eVolve’s work to the public. You can also liaise with local press who can promote eVolve projects when needed, so networking skills will be vital.

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT AND ATTENDANCE OFFICER* (1 Position Available) As a reliable eVolve member, we require you to ensure that all other members are just as committed. You will be required to assist the Youth Volunteer Advisor in conducting and recording eVolve’s individual Personal Development Plans, whilst also communicating to all eVolve Champions about upcoming meetings and events. You will also ensure that everyone is motivated to attend, as you will also be asked to monitor the attendance.

TREASURER (1 Position Available) eVolve have an annual budget for their youth-led projects, and so we will require you to monitor and update the spreadsheet, and report to the budget holder (the Youth Volunteer Advisor in the vInvolved Central London Team). You will be required to have experience of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and a good understanding of maths.

CHAMPION (9 Positions Available) To be Champion, you will be committed to attending the meetings and actively contribute to promoting youth volunteering via the team’s various projects. You will be a motivated Ambassador of Youth Volunteering by attending our events to promote young volunteers. No qualifications are needed – just your passion and dedication!

The vInvolved Central London team hope that you can find a role that suits you, as we look forward to receiving your applications. Membership will be for six months – September 2010 to March 2011. If you wish to apply, please send in your CV, along with a cover letter stating what role you would like to apply for and why to mike.winn@londonyouth.org.uk »

Deadline for applications will be the 31st of July 2010. An informal interview will be held with all potential candidates shortly after.

GOOD LUCK – I look forward to hearing from you!!
