A free photography workshop is amongst the highlights of the Streatham Festival this year, taking place at the launch event, ‘The Big Day Out’ at the top of Streatham Common on Saturday 3rd July from 1pm - 6pm.
Young people will get the chance to join in one of two 30 minute workshops with professionals from Embrace Cooperation Ltd. Taking photos of ‘things that make them happy’, entrants are competing for some fantastic prizes, including a one-to-one training session with a professional photographer for the 1st prize winner, and large digital prints for runners-up, courtesy of Snappy Snaps in Streatham.
Entry into the competition is free and entrants must be between 6 and 26 years old (the competition is not open to professional photographers). Pre-registration is not required, but turn up early to ensure your place on the workshop! You can take your own digital camera or borrow one on the day. Photos will be uploaded after the workshops and judged by a team of experts. The prize winners will be announced on the main stage at the end of The Big Day Out.
After the event, all winning photos will be displayed in an exhibition at Streatham Library.
The Big Day Out Coordinator, Anna Godsiff, said “We’re delighted that Embrace Cooperation Ltd will be offering these free workshops to local youngsters. It’s a great opportunity for them to see Streatham in a different light, through the lens, and it also fits in well with the festival’s overall themes of ‘Air’ and ‘Happiness’! We’re all looking forward to seeing the results and visiting the exhibition in the library.”
